Remembering 9/11: A Memorial of Change and Hope
Welcome to the 9/11 Memorial Project. This site is dedicated to honoring the profound impact of September 11, 2001, on the world. Supported by the Richmond Fire Department, we are creating a memorial on our fire department training grounds using metal pieces from the World Trade Center. Join us in reflecting on this pivotal moment in history, acknowledging our collective failure, and fostering hope for a better future.

About the 9/11 Memorial Project
The 9/11 Memorial Project is a tribute not only to those who lost their lives but also to the lasting global impact of the September 11 attacks. Located on our fire department training grounds, this memorial is constructed from authentic World Trade Center steel beams. The design includes a fountain, waterfall, and an eternal flame, symbolizing the flow of time, the cleansing of sorrow, and eternal remembrance. This project aims to create a space that acknowledges the ways in which humanity failed on that day and encourages us to aspire toward a more hopeful and united future.

The Memorial
The centerpiece of the memorial is a powerful sculpture made from steel beams recovered from the World Trade Center. This sculpture is complemented by a serene fountain and waterfall, symbolizing the flow of time and the cleansing of sorrow, and an eternal flame representing eternal remembrance. Surrounding the memorial are images of different people affected by 9/11, created by talented local artists from Richmond, CA, and brought to life through stacked metal layers. Together, these elements symbolize the profound change that the events of 9/11 brought to the world, our collective failure, and our enduring hope for the future. Visitors are invited to reflect on the impact of 9/11 and to be inspired by the resilience and unity that arose from the tragedy.
